Press Releases |   March 20, 2018

On the 24th and 25th of November 2018, the best Catan players from all over the world will meet in the event location “Theaterhaus Köln” to host the World Cup. More than 60 participants from around 40 countries are expected.

In addition to the defending champion William Cavaretta from the US, the European champion Evaldas Rutkauskas from Lithuania participates in this year’s Catan World Championship. They have automatically qualified for this year’s CATAN World Championship through their titles. The other participants, such, for example, the German champion Michaela Wolff, had to prove their skills in the context of national championships. A maximum of two players per country can participate in the tournament. In total, about 60 representatives from around 40 nations – including from distant countries such as Japan, Australia, Malaysia and Peru – are expected in Cologne.

The CATAN World Championships take place every two years alternately in Germany and the USA. This year, the choice of venue fell to Cologne. This year’s international event is organized and carried out by the KOSMOS Verlag from Germany, where CATAN has been published since its first publication in 1995.
